NATO Battalion Came 300 Kilometers Close to Kaliningrad

Today, only 300 kilometers from Kaliningrad, a military base in Lithuania called Rukla welcomed a NATO battalion. President Grybauskaite called the placement of NATO units in the country a demonstration of unity of the alliance. And Estonia is unloading US Abrams and Bradleys from the armored regiment of the US Army. The alliance calls these forces a tool for deterring Russia in Eastern Europe. Well, and in Moscow it's called a threat to European security. Report by Darya Grigorova. Demonstration of camouflage by Dalia Grybauskaitė for the German Minister of Defence. The President of Lithuania never seems to have looked so pleased on the protocol shoots. This moment, the arrival of the group of NATO's advanced reinforced presence, the president drew in as much as she could, constantly complaining about some threat from the east. We highly value the solidarity shown by our allies. 450 soldiers from Germany, USA, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. The battalion will be under command of the German military, so the ceremony in the Lithuanian Rukla was attended by German Defense Minister Ursula Von der Lyayen. The President and the Minister, who sometimes weren't seen in the cameras from behind the backs of tall military, saw several armored vehicles. In total, three German tanks Leopard 2 and 40 infantry fighting vehicles were sent to the operation in Lithuania, and February 8 and 9, the new machinery is expected to arrive in Latvia. It will be placed on the Adazi base, near a tank training ground. Adazi base is preparing to welcome new guests. To accommodate 1,200 soldiers new residential buildings are being built at the defense budget expense. A serious defence approach is also demonstrated: military patrol monitors the territory round the clock. They react aggressively to journalists, so it's better not to come here with serious equipment. One photo of a military facility in Latvia can result in being charged for espionage. An employee of the railway from Jelgava photographed a train with tanks, which arrived in November for training exercises, and sent it to his relative in Russia by SMS. He is now under investigation. There are no amateur or professional photographs of the US military which arrived recently in Latvia. 225 people arrived on rotation to replace the previous unit, so no one met them with the red carpet and fanfares, as in Lithuania. Locals can tell much about the reputation of visiting military. At the end of the year, in November, I think, drunk British servicemen beat a Latvian boy-model for no apparent reason in a "McDonald’s". He was a handsome boy. They broke his nose. According to the agreement signed by Latvia and the USA, all violations of the law by soldiers will be dealt with by the command, rather than the local authorities. And by June, an international NATO battalion of 1200 men is due to arrive in Latvia. Foreign guests have all the accommodations. The military budget of Latvia for this year is 445 million euros. 30 percent of the funds will be spent on construction and repair of infrastructure. Such guests are expensive.
